The nature is beautiful in the Soča valley, don’t miss these places. Here you can find our favourit places, canyons, waterfalls, walking trails, hiking tours and other natural wonders.

Great Gorge (Velika Korita)
The longest gorge of Soča river. Start the tour at the Lepena valley and walk along the gorge on the left river bank till the hanging bridge • 30 min.

Šunik Water Grove (Šunikov Vodni Gaj)
Go deeper in the Lepena valley and park your car down on the right just before the road starts ascending. A circular path leads along a small creek named Lepenjica in a beautiful forest with many waterfalls and mossy trees • 1 h.

Great Gorge (Velika Korita)

The beautifully carved gorge is 750 long, just a few meters wide and 15 m deep.

Natural Wonders

Virje Waterfall (Slap Virje)
Close to Plužna village. You can reach on foot from Bovec (or you can drive close to the waterfall.) Don’t miss the Source of Gljun and the forest path which leads you down to Bovec, immediately after the village turn to the right and follow the marked trail • 2,5 h.

Šunik Water Grove (Šunikov Vodni Gaj)
Go deeper in the Lepena valley and park your car down on the right just before the road starts ascending. A circular path leads along a small creek named Lepenjica in a beautiful forest with many waterfalls and mossy trees • 1 h.

Kozjak Waterfall (Slap Kozjak)
Close to Kobarid. The most beautiful waterfall of the valley. Start the walk from Kamp Lazar through the hanging bridge and follow the sign of the waterfall. Nice trail for families with kids • 1h.

Natural wonders

Boka Waterfall (Slap Boka)
3 km from Bovec on the right side of the main road. Park before the bride or at the big parking place of Boka Hotel. You can reach a nice viewpoint from the left side of the bridge within 20 min walk.

Tolmin Gorge (Tolminska Korita)
Drive to Tolmin and at the first traffic light turn to the left towards Zatolmin. After the village you can find the parking place and from here starts a circular trail where you can walk along the Tolminka and Zadlaščica creeks and see the beautiful gorge.

Soča Trail (Soška Pot)
Amazing walkint trail along Soča river through hanging bridges, you can see hidden parts of the valley, beautiful gorges, waterfalls. It starts from the Source of Soča river and till Bovec you can walk approximately 20 kms. From Bovec you can continue your walk down till Kobarid. You can do part of the trail and walk back on the same part, or organize a transfer or hitchike back to your car.

The Soča Trail is considered to be the most beautiful section of the entire Alpe Adria trail.

Go up to the mountains

Mangart Saddle
You can reach 2000 m by car on a road which is the highest in Slovenia. Follow the mainroad towards Italy, Predel Pass, and turn to the right. Enjoy the amazing scannery, take a walk in the saddle. You can reach the Mangart peak from there, on the Slovenian way (on the right) which is more demanding or on the Italian way which is a bit easier.(via ferrata equipment and helmet is recommended)

Kanin Mountain
From Bovec you can reach the Kanin Plateau 2000 m, by the cablecar which is operating during the summer time. You can check the timetable and the prices: www.kanin.si

Vršič Pass
The highest pass of Slovenia (1611 m). There are 25 curves up and 25 curves down to Kranjska Gora. park your car down in the pass, and take a walk. Many trails starts from here to reach the surrounding peaks like Prišojnik, Mojstrovka, Jalovec.

Mangart Saddle

Mangart is Slovenia’s fourth highest mountain with it's 2679 m-s high peak.

Go up to the mountains

Slemenova špica
Drive up to Vršič Pass and park there. Follow the way towards Mojstrovka. Reach the saddle and turn to the right and reach the plateau Sleme, there are beautiful small lakes and nice view to mountain Jalovec. From here you can ascent to the Slemenova špica where you will have a fantastic view to the whole Tamar valley. Return onthe right way just below Mojstrovka wall. -2,5 hours

Rombon-1313-Čukla
If you are interested about the first word war, than this hike will make your day! Drive till Fort Kluže, park your car there, and you can start your hike through the tunnel. Soon you reach the Fort Herman another fortres from the 1st Word War. From here you start zig-zaging up in the forest till you reach 1313 another monument from the 1st Word War and if you follow the marked path it leads you through a Plateau where you find the ruins of a village from the Word War I. The trail starts ascending again, you will reach the Rombon peak. For the descent try the other trail, which goes exactly on the frontline, Čukla - Planina Gorčica – Bovec. -8 hours

Go up to the mountains

Krn Lake (Krnsko Jezero)
The largest mountain lake in Slovenia lies at an altitude of 1391 m surrounded by beautiful mountains. Drive till the end of the Lepena valley to the Dr. Klementa Jug House and start your hike from here. Just follow the marked trail, zig-zag up to the saddle through the forest and soon you will reach the lake. Close to the lake there is a mountain Hut (logde at Krnska Jezera) if you want to eat or dring something. From the Lake you can continue on the marked trail up to the Krn peak through 1st word war monuments.

Kriški Podi
It is a beautiful Plateau above Trenta with fantastic view, small lakes, wild animals and with a mountain hut the Pogačnikov Dom there you can sleep over and every day you can reach a peak like Razor, Pihavec, Stenar, or Križ. Drive towards Trenta and after Trenta in the first big curve, turn to the right into the Zadnjica valley and drive till it is allowed. Park your car there and you can strat your hike up to the Pogačnikov dom.

7 Lakes Valley - Multiday Hike!
Amazing hike through the 7 lakes valley from Trenta to Soča village Drive towards Trenta and before you arrive to the village park at the sign of Lepoč. Start you hike from here up to Zasavska Koča na Prehodavcih. Spend the night in the mountain hut and on the next day hike above the mountain hut to see the last 2 lakes, the water of the lake, which is on the highest elevation is drinkable. The descent goes through the 7 Lakes valley till you reach the Koča Triglavskih Jezerih from here turn to the right and follow the trail back to the Soča valley through a beautiful Karst Plateau.
